Defining my style: trendy meets classy

After my completely random first post, I figured I should introduce myself a bit more formally now, so I will do so in terms of this fun personal style questionnaire, courtesy of A Bit Coquettish. Here we go:

Describe your personal style.

A mix of trendy, classy, and/or sophisticated. It depends on my mood as well. Occasionally I will go for something a bit different – I randomly decided to purchase a cheap pair of distressed gray jeans this summer (?) – but I usually stick to what I know I feel good in.

What are the staples in your wardrobe?

Jeans and boots. I repeat – jeans and boots! I believe a great pair of jeans will go a long way for a woman and are essential to every wardrobe. The same goes for boots. These are two of the best wardrobe investments you can make, trust me. My favorites are my Citizens and my Frye boots.

Also, I should probably throw in a rain jacket – going to school in rainy old Eugene, rain gear becomes a must.

What’s your signature look?

I suppose this varies with the time of year, but for fall/winter I’m going with skinny jeans, boots, and some sort of basic top or sweater. Sometimes it’ll be leggings with boots and a dress or long sweater… Gosh, this is a tough one. I feel that I change my outfits a lot, I try not to wear the same thing everyday. However, my color scheme is pretty constant. Blues, grays, and black, with the occasional bright accent.

What inspires you?

Fashion wise? Looking through catalogues or blogs, random people on the streets of campus, the girls in my sorority. Mostly the people around me. I’ll see a cute outfit and think, “Gee why haven’t I tried that before?” or “What a great outfit.” It’s that awe factor that hits you immediately when you see someone’s outfit. That’s inspiring.

Who is your fashion muse?

My fashion muse? I can’t say I have one. I pull inspiration from a lot of different people I know and see, from celebrities to models to friends. I can’t put my finger on just one. I have always liked Emma Watson’s style and the Sex and the City characters. Very chic.

Favourite purchase of all time?

Oh boy, this is a tough one. I’m not sure it technically counts as a purchase since I received them as a gift, but my Frye boots. They are beautiful and I worship these babies. (Seriously. I put them back in their protective bag every time I take them off haha.) I am so lucky to have them. They go with everything and will last a long time. And they make me feel so good!

Biggest splurge?

A splurge that I spent my own money on, it’d definitely be my Current Elliott boyfriend jeans. I live in these in the spring and summer. Dress them up, dress them down, wear them with heels, wear them with sandals…they are great!

Beauty routine?

Alright, let me clarify people – I am a fashion person, not a beauty person. Therefore I wear basically the same simple makeup everyday. Bare Minerals foundation and concealer, sometimes Warmth, a bit of eyeliner and mascara, and I’m good to go. And oh yes, I’ve been using the same eyeliner for several years now. New Year’s resolution – switch eyeliner?!!

What jewelry do you never take off?

My three rings –  Tiffany & Co. heart ring, a peace sign, and a Disney “Love” ring where the O is Mickey’s head. Delicate, classy silver rings that match my style (and freakishly long fingers).

What are you wishing for?

Ugh, I am currently OBSESSING over this Marc by Marc Jacobs purse. I haven’t boughten a new purse in quite some time and I can’t decide whether to spend some Christmas money on it or just wait… It is so perfect though. But waaaay expensive. Sigh.

What are your obsessions?

Nordstrom. Nordstrom Rack. Shoes. Victoria’s Secret Lacies.
